Julia Allen Smith

Delaware native Julia Allen Smith is a multidisciplinary artist with a background in sculpture and metalsmithing. She attended the University of Delaware and received her Master of Fine Arts degree from Washington University in St. Louis.

Most recently she began making Sailors' Valentines and other seashell works, which combine her lifelong love of the natural world with her skills as an artist. Julia has received many awards for her work, including Best of Show at the prestigious Philadelphia Shell Show at the Academy of Natural Sciences.

Julia and her son Tyler converted a former post office in Milton, Delaware into a home and studio. The renovation has been featured in such publications as The News Journal and Delaware Beach Life Magazine.
